We built Kancare because we couldn't find anywhere good enough.
Kancare was founded in Kochi with a single conviction: that every person, regardless of age, diagnosis, or dependency, deserves care that upholds their dignity, respects their story, and meets their clinical needs with precision.
What sets us apart is not just the quality of our facilities or the warmth of our team, it is the fact that Kancare is led, every day, by a qualified doctor whose life's work has been shaped by personal experience with illness, family, and the gap she saw in Kerala's elder care landscape.
Founding Story
How Kancare Began
For years, Dr. Boby Sarah worked at the intersection of oncology and community health, treating patients from underserved communities, accompanying families through the hardest stages of illness, and witnessing a system that often sent people home with nowhere good to go when cure was no longer possible.
When she saw the same gap in senior care, where families were unable to find professional, clinically sound, and genuinely dignified care for their elderly parents, she founded Kancare to close that gap.
What began as a response to a crisis in palliative care has grown into a 110-bed residential care network across three centres in Kochi—serving seniors with assisted living needs, neurological conditions, dementia, and those in the final stages of life.

- Post-graduate specialist in Radiation Oncology with extended practice in Preventive Oncology and Palliative Care
- Over 20 years of clinical experience in the geriatric and palliative care field
Clinical Focus
Dr. Boby Sarah's clinical background spans radiation oncology, palliative care,
preventive oncology, and senior health. Indeed an unusual combination which works
well together, to give Kancare a depth of medical leadership rarely found in
residential care settings in Kerala.
Her experience working with cancer patients and chronically ill seniors in
resource-limited community settings gave her a distinctive understanding of what
dignified, person-centred care truly requires, both clinically and emotionally.

At Kancare, every care plan is designed by a multi-disciplinary team of Doctors, nurses, social workers and physiotherapists, providing a personal yet professional touch. They are then reviewed, approved, and adjusted by Dr. Boby Sarah and our clinical team, to ensure that every resident receives a level of medical oversight typically found only in hospital settings.

With a background in oncology and palliative care, Dr. Boby Sarah brings specialist knowledge to conditions that many care homes are under-equipped to manage, including late-stage dementia, neurological decline, and end-of-life care.
